Hearing Aid Dispensers

As of today, there are around 1000 private registered hearing aid dispensers in the UK. National companies employ approximately half of them. Whereas the remaining half are independent dispensers.

In general, the hearing aid manufacturers own some of the national companies wholly or partially. Whereas others have supply agreements with only a few.

As a result, they might offer a very limited choice in comparison to the whole range of hearing aids that are available. Hidden Hearing would be the best example of this. Hidden Hearing is owned by William Demant Holding who also owns the hearing aid manufacturer Oticon. If you go to Hidden Hearing to seek the help for your hearing aids, there is a very good chance that you will be offered Oticon hearing aids. National companies generally have higher overheads.  As you can imagine the prices offered by them can be relatively very high.

Independent dispensers generally have much lesser expense because they operate from their own premises or visit you at your home. These cost savings are passed on directly to the consumer where they end up paying a reasonable cost for their hearing aids. It is not that we provide a better quality of service than these national companies do, but it’s definitely as good as the service provided by them. It is also a notable fact that some of the independent dispensers can also charge relatively high prices. This is sometimes because of the fact that they may be operating form costly high street or expensive locations (e.g. Central London). In many of the cases, what seem to be a local independent is in reality part of a national company.

At Local Hearing, we have a chosen set of our hearing aid dispensers, which means they are truly independent, and not working with any national company. As well as they provide a range of hearing aids at a realistic price. We are able to provide a local quality service at realistic lower prices in comparison with the more expensive national companies for your hearing aids. All of the hearing aid dispensers recommended by us are qualified and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
